What do you get when you mix second-hand fashion, entrepreneurship and a good dose of courage? Luna. She started her own shop, trusts her gut feeling more these days and proves that sustainable can also be effortlessly stylish. Just like her Trashious bag.

Can you briefly introduce yourself? I am Luna, 27 years old and I opened my own upcycled and vintage clothing store in February at Strijp S in Eindhoven. The pay-off of Trashious is: Where some see trash, we see opportunities. How does this suit you? I give second-hand clothing a second life. Every item is hip and unique. When do you feel at your strongest? (Apart from opening a jar of pickles without help.) When I open the store and wear a cool outfit! Cool blue heels, a blazer with beautiful brooches or a see-through lilac dress. Who or what gives you that kick in the butt when you need it? My sister and father. The week before I have a market they say: “Come on Loen, make as many new items”. Then I just work until the early hours. Furthermore, I am a hard worker by nature, so I often don't need that kick. What choices in your life make you proud? Starting my own business and following my passion. How do you motivate yourself on days when you'd rather stay under a blanket? 'Just do it' and put your shoulders to the wheel. Put on some music and a cup of tea and go. I know I won't be happier in bed anyway. How do you minimize your footprint on the world? (For example, are you good at eating leftovers?) Wear second-hand clothes and alter them. And do almost everything by bike. Yes, I often even do my shopping by bike, which sometimes makes my bike feel like a pack mule. Super inconvenient to sit on it like that. What is the best advice you have ever received or given? Listen to your feelings and everything will be fine. My sister also once said: "But Loen, what is good for you? Instead of what you think others think is good. Stay true to yourself." If your bag could talk, what would it say about you? Clothing advice and keep going! And don't listen too much to other people's opinions. What was your first job? Odd jobs at a florist. This mainly involved filling buckets of water. What is the best compliment you have ever received? “I am proud of you”, from my parents. Which woman inspires you? Who would you like to share an evening of wine and wisdom with? My grandmother! She was a strong and creative woman and I learned to sew from her. Unfortunately, she passed away 10 years ago. I would do anything to be able to drink wine with her for an evening. I would have liked to know and learn so much from her. But I know that she is very proud of me in heaven! The best lessons are sometimes found in the biggest blunders; can you share an experience in which you stumbled, but ultimately came out stronger? Going to work somewhere that cost me more energy than it gave me. I learned a lot from this. In which 3 hashtags would you describe yourself? #caring #entrepreneurial #myself In which 3 hashtags would you describe Trashious? #sustainable #unique #fashionable Is there anything else you would like to share with us? Maybe nice to know what Luna & Lore means! Luna is my name and Lore means passing on from generation to generation. This refers to my grandmother who passed on her sewing skills and passion to me and to the clothes that are passed down from generation to generation!
