Jolyn is a real power woman who sees opportunities where others often see problems. From her years of experience in the hotel industry to sales manager, Jolyn loves to arrange, organize and always find the best solutions. And if you think: "Hey, she looks familiar," you might be right. She is one of the faces of Trashious. In her story she tells how the payoff “Where some see trash, we see opportunities” suits her perfectly. Can you tell us something about yourself? I am 44 years old and currently live in Eindhoven. I studied at the Hotel School, worked in a hotel for 12 years as a Front Office manager and then as a Sales manager. Arranging and organizing is my thing, but it is also my pitfall. Everything has to be top notch for me! The payoff of Trashious is: Where some see trash, we see opportunities. How does this suit you? In a world where we have to be more careful with our planet, waste is the place where innovation can start. When do you feel at your strongest? (Apart from opening a jar of pickles without help.) I feel at my strongest when I'm in a situation where I need to act quickly and solve something. That's when I really come alive. I like to keep an overview, think clearly and take action right away. That gives me energy and confidence. Who or what gives you that kick in the butt when you need it? That's actually me. I have a strong sense of responsibility, so when something needs to be done, I give myself that kick. But when I really get stuck, it's often the people around me. My husband, sister or girlfriends — who sharpen my focus. Not by pushing, but by being honest. And that works for me. What choices in your life make you proud? I'm proud of the choices where I stayed true to myself, even when it was exciting. Whether that was at work or in my private life. Choosing what feels good, even if it's not always the easiest path — that's what I look back on with pride. How do you motivate yourself on days when you’d rather stay under a blanket? Get outside! Fresh air. Walking or cycling is the best medicine. How do you minimize your footprint on the world? (For example, are you good at eating leftovers?) I always cook too much … I always try to be creative with leftovers. I throw away as little as possible and often make something new the next day. A leftover vegetable becomes an omelet. It’s a shame to just throw it away if you can still make something tasty with it! What’s the best advice you’ve ever received or given? The best advice I ever got was from my parents: “Don’t do anything in life that you don’t like.” That’s always stuck with me. It helps me make choices that I stand behind, with energy and conviction. And if something really doesn’t feel right? Then it’s time to change something. What was your first job? My very first job was at the travel agency where my father worked. I helped pack plane tickets and travel documents there when everything was still done by hand and by mail. It wasn't a thrilling job, but I loved it. Which woman inspires you? Who would you like to share an evening of wine and wisdom with? Singer Anouk! Anouk is a versatile and inspiring power woman to me who is known for her powerful voice, authentic personality and the courage to be herself, both on and off stage. I think that's brilliant. In which 3 hashtags would you describe yourself? #caring #honest #hardworker In which 3 hashtags would you describe Trashious? #progressive #fashionable #sustainable
